The Level 1 Diploma in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector is a qualification that has been designed to introduce you to a range of practical skills from across the hair and beauty industries.
This qualification has been designed to prepare you for employment as a supervised assistant/apprentice or for further learning in the hairdressing and beauty therapy industries within college.

Presenting a professional image in the salon: 3 Credits

Optional Units - 31 (minimum) Credits

Hair plaiting * 3 Credits

Shampoo and conditioning 3 Credits

Hand care ** 3 Credits

Skin care: 3 Credits

Themed face painting: 3 Credits

Styling men’s hair: 3 Credits

Styling women’s hair: 3 Credits

Basic make-up application: 3 Credits

Nail are application: 3 Credits

Plaiting & twisting hair* 3 Credits

Create an image using colour for the hair and beauty sector: 3 Credits

Create a hair and beauty image: 3 Credits

Providing basic manicure treatment ** 3 Credits

Providing basic pedicure treatment: 3 Credits

Colour hair using temporary colour: 3 Credits

Salon reception duties: 3 Credits

Follow health and safety in the salon: 3 Credits

Working with others in the hair and beauty sector: 2 Credits

Create and maintain retail displays in the salon: 2 Credits
